AN EFFECTIVE LEARNING TOOL: DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Hi everyone, today I want to talk about digital storytelling. Do you know anything about it? Let me tell you: simply, digital storytelling means using technology to tell stories. They are multimedia presentations that combine a variety of communicative elements within a narrative structure. And media may conclude any combination of the following: text, images, video, audio, social media elements…etc.
My assignment for this week was to create one digital story. Actually, it was group work and our teacher gave us 2 weeks to work on it. Finally, it is time to share it with people!
Firstly, we decided to make a fictional story. Then we spent our days thinking about the topic of our story. This part was crucial because we wanted to make a story that has a climax, resolution… etc. After the days spent brainstorming, we’ve come up with an idea, it is alien cates! Since it’s been a joke people making about cats we decided to make up a story that takes cats as an alien species. So, in our story cats live on the planet “ Cathiopia”. Then they invade the earth!
Apart from the story, let’s talk about the making of it. We use the website called “Animaker”. Though we evaluated it and other tools. “Animaker” was the best for us since we realized that we can use it more effectively. Then, we discovered this tool day by day. I certainly believe that we did our best while creating scenes, characters, costumes, and settings. The most striking part was to movements of cats. It was hard to show their qualifications actually.
We also recorded our voices and utter the scenes. While I was the first narrator of the story, my friends continued narrating after me.
I believe that digital storytelling offers English learners a new way to communicate. Also, it is a great material for teachers. I would want to use digital storytelling activities in my classes.
